Girard Perregaux has over 220 years of watchmaking history, starting in 1791, when goldsmith and watchmaker Jean-François Bautte gathered professionals in every phase of watchmaking in a single entity. There in Geneva, for the fir produced an array of jewelry and timepieces, and became well-known for its specialty watches, especially those shaped as miniature flowers, butterflies, and musments.
The firm was inherited by Jean’s son and son-in-law, and in 1906 it was acquired by the Girard-Perregaux company chmaking expert famous for his advances in escapements, especially the tourbillon.
